What is MXPie Patch? and what dose MXPie Patch do?

The Pie Patch...
The Pie Patch is simply a patch that helps you to connect to peer cache servers
so your WinMX program can be used the same way it was when winmx.com was around.

Previously, when your WinMX prog is started, it connects and is functional
because your ip is directed to winmx.com. With winmx.com gone now ...
it is not possible for your WinMX prog to connect without a patch.

The Pie patch simply takes the additional function to connect your ip to peer cache servers
(which takes the place of winmx.com) by redirecting your ip to those peer cache servers.

In this way, your WinMX program connects and is functional.
Thus, the Pie Patch "patches" your HOSTS file to make it work.

In the process of patching, no modification was done to your WinMX program ...
as it simply needed a Pie Patch to cause it to connect to peer cache servers since winmx.com is gone.

What does MXPie mean?
MX came's from WinMX, and the PIE part actually stands for Peer Integration Exchange, hence the MXPie Patch. We choose to carry this name forward to the website and our WinMX help rooms. MXPie Patch is often also referred to as the Piepatch, WinMX Patch, or WinMX Pie Patch.

Is MXPie a new name for WinMX?
The original WinMX software will always be known as WinMX. The MXPie Team chooses the name MXPie to represent ourselves and our efforts in supporting the continuation of software for WinMX, such as the MXPie Patch.
